The three-day journey to Erg Chebbi is the quintessential Moroccan pilgrimage: an awe-inspiring crossing from the imperial urbanity of Marrakech to the pure, golden eternity of the Sahara Desert. Leaving the city, the road ascends through the majestic High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka (2,260m) to UNESCO Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, the ancient clay citadel guarding the desert gateway. Continuing through the fragrant Valley of the Roses, we arrive in the Dades Valley, where centuries of wind and water have sculpted red rock formations resembling monkey fingers. On Day Two, walk beneath the dramatic 300-meter vertical limestone cliffs of the Todra Gorges before driving eastward into the pre-Saharan desert plains of Erfoud and Rissani. By late afternoon, the horizon gives way to the breathtaking golden wave of Erg Chebbi: towering dunes rising over 150 meters into the sky. Mount your camel to cross the undulating sands as sunset washes the desert in fiery amber. Arrive at our luxury desert camp, where private canvas suites feature plush king-size beds and en-suite marble bathrooms with hot showers. Feast on slow-cooked Berber tagines, gather around roaring embers for hypnotic Gnawa drum rhythms, and witness millions of desert stars.

Can we opt for a 4x4 transfer into the dunes instead of riding camels?

Yes. If you prefer not to ride camels, our private 4x4 vehicles will transport you and your luggage directly across the dunes to the camp entrance.
